રવિવારનો દિવસ સૂર્ય ભગવાનને સમર્પિત છે અને આ દિવસે તેમની પૂજા કરવાથી ઘણા ફાયદા થાય છે. એવું માનવામાં આવે છે કે જે લોકો રવિવારે સાચા મનથી સૂર્ય ભગવાનની પૂજા કરે છે, તેમનું સ્વાસ્થ્ય તંદુરસ્ત રહે છે અને બિમારીઓથી તેમની રક્ષા થાય છે. રવિવારના દિવસે સૂર્ય ભગવાનનું વ્રત રાખવું પણ શ્રેષ્ઠ માનવામાં આવે છે. આ વ્રત કરવાથી જીવનમાં સુખ-શાંતિ રહે છે.
આ રીતે થયો હતો સૂર્યદેવનો જન્મ: સૂર્ય દેવનો જન્મ કેવી રીતે થયો હતો. તેના વિશે બહુ ઓછા લોકો જાણે છે. સૂર્યદેવના જન્મ સાથે એક પૌરાણિક કથા જોડાયેલી છે. જે આ પ્રમાણે છે. એવું કહેવામાં આવે છે કે પહેલા આ દુનિયામાં પ્રકાશ ન હતો અને આ વિશ્વ પ્રકાશ રહિત હતું. તે સમયે કમલયોનિ બ્રહ્માજી પ્રગટ થયા અને તેના મોંમાંથી પહેલો શબ્દ ૐ નિકળ્યો. જે સૂર્યના તેજ રૂપી સૂક્ષ્મ સ્વરૂપ હતું. ત્યાર પછી, બ્રહ્માજીના ચાર મુખ માંથી ચાર વેદ પ્રગટ થયા અને ૐ ના તેજમાં એકાકાર થયા.
વિશ્વમાં પ્રકાશ લાવવા માટે ભગવાન બ્રહ્માજીની વિનંતી પર સૂર્યએ તેના મહાનતેજને સમેટી લીધું. બ્રહ્માજીનો પુત્ર મરિચી હતો, જેના પુત્ર ઋષિ કશ્યપના લગ્ન અદિતિ સાથે થયા હતા. અદિતિએ કઠોર તપસ્યાથી ભગવાન સૂર્યને પ્રસન્ન કર્યા. તેમણે ભગવાન સૂર્ય પાસેથી બાળકની ઈચ્છા કરી. ત્યાર પછી સૂર્ય ભગવાને સુષુમ્ના નામની કિરણ સાથે તેના ગર્ભામાં પ્રવેશ કર્યો. ગર્ભાવસ્થા દરમિયાન પણ અદિતિ ચાંદ્રાયણ જેવા કઠોર વ્રત કરતી રહી. જેના કારણે ઋષિ રાજ કશ્યપ નારાજ થયા હતા અને તેમણે કહ્યું કે તમે આ રીતે ઉપવાસ રાખીને ગર્ભસ્થ બાળકને મારવા ઈચ્છો છો. આ સાંભળીને દેવી અદિતિએ ગર્ભમાં રહેલા બાળકને પેટમાંથી બહાર કાઢ્યું, જે તેના ખૂબ જ દિવ્ય તેજથી ઝળહળી રહ્યું હતું. એવું માનવામાં આવે છે કે ભગવાન સૂર્ય બાળક રૂપે તે ગર્ભમાંથી પ્રગટ થયા હતા. બ્રહ્મપુરાણમાં અદિતિના ગર્ભાથી જન્મેલા સૂર્યના અંશનો ઉલ્લેખ વિસ્તારમાં કરવામાં આવ્યો છે.
પૌરાણિક ધાર્મિક ગ્રંથોમાં ભગવાન સૂર્યના અર્ઘ્યદાનનું વિશેષ મહત્વ જણાવવામાં આવ્યું છે. ગ્રંથો અનુસાર જે લોકો દરરોજ સવારે તાંબાનાં વાસણમાં પાણી ભરીને તેમાં લાલ ફૂલ, ચોખા મૂકીને સૂર્યને અર્ઘ્ય અર્પણ કરે છે, તેનાથી સૂર્ય ભગવાન પ્રસન્ન થાય છે. સૂર્ય ભગવાન આવા લોકોની દરેક ઈચ્છા પૂર્ણ કરે છે. અર્ઘ્યદાન કરવાથી આયુષ્ય, આરોગ્ય, સંપત્તિ, પુત્ર, મિત્ર, તેજ, ખ્યાતિ, કીર્તિ અને સૌભાગ્ય મળે છે. સૂર્ય ભગવાનને ઉર્જા સાથે પણ જોડીને જોવામાં છે. એવું માનવામાં આવે છે કે સૂર્ય ભગવાનની પૂજા કરવાથી શરીરમાં ઉર્જા રહે છે.
આ રીતે કરો સૂર્યદેવની પૂજા: રવિવારે સૂર્ય ભગવાનની પૂજા જરૂર કરો. સૂર્યની પૂજા કરવા માટે એક ચોકી પર તેમની મૂર્તિ અથવા તસવીર રાખો. ત્યાર પછી તેમને ફળ-ફૂલ અર્પણ કરો. ધૂપ કરો અને તેમની સાથે જોડાયેલા મંત્રોના જાપ કરો. પૂજા પૂર્ણ થયા પછી સૂર્ય ભગવાનની આરતી ગાઓ. આરતી પછી સૂર્યદેવને અર્ઘ્ય અર્પણ કરો તાંબાનાં વાસણમાં જળ, ફૂલો અને ચોખા ઉમેરો. આ જળ સૂર્યને જોતા તેમને અર્પણ કરો.
